Good news PeopleChristians are Good News People. But when we hear the word "Evangelism"--from the Greek word for "Good News" in the New Testament--sometimes we cringe...or we cower. This Breakfast Church series is designed to help people explore the big questions of sharing their faith: Why? What do I share? How?
The services are designed not merely to teach but to give participants some practice and planning for being a "Good News Person." |
"Good News People: Missionaries" (Matthew 28:18-20) - October 13, 2024
"We haven't been talking about sandwich boards, megaphones, tv channels, or forcing bibles into schools. This isn't what sharing our faith is about. But nor is it a private, personal faith just focused on getting my blessing. To be Good News people is to understand our lives as missionaries, not in a colonial or conversionary way, but doing other-centered work--asking how God is blessing other people and how we can be a part of that. We have a blessing that we were given to share. We have witnessed a human Life that is stronger than death and it’s meant to be lived together. We have a Story that is inviting us into a deep Communion with the Creator of all things who is fanning the Divine Spark that smolders deep within each of us into flame."

Their conversation isn't just about doing what the bible says (though the Scriptures ARE part of the discussion from which both 'sides' quote). They don't seem particularly afraid of 'getting it wrong.' They do what seems good: to the Holy Spirit and to them."
