Make Known, Hand Down

The Gospel moves us outward. But in what way? So often the Church has moved outward to colonize or exert power over. So what does sharing the Gospel look like? We'll spend some time on two images: Making Known and Handing Down. As a church, as Christians, our future is dependent on our capacity and commitment to move outward in ways that humbly share what we have in Jesus.

November 12, 2023 -- "Hand Down"

"Ours is not a Jesus that goes on a bumper sticker or mass-produced booklets or billboards (even if the people behind these have genuine motives of sharing the Gospel with others). Ours is a Jesus that gets handed over like heirloom, a seed that has been nurtured and bloomed through a life of faith lived through suffering and joy, failure and fulfillment, crosses and resurrections."

November 5, 2023 -- "Thinly Veiled"

"Calling up the saints into our spirituality is not about ethical teaching (live like they lived). It is a living Communion with Christ mediating the relationship. The Communion of Saints is not just a lesson. It is a life-shaping, realm-traversing mystical connection."

OCtober 29, 2023 -- "Answering for Our Hope" (Breakfast Church - No Video)

"The Gospel is not individualistic (MY STORY), but cosmic (a MYSTERY of boundless riches, diverse wisdom, and multi-dimensional love), tethered both to our incarnated reality AND Jesus' historical reality of incarnation, cross, and resurrection."

OCtober 22, 2023 -- "Tikkun Olam"

"God has created a fragile world—most beautiful masterpieces often are. It can fall apart...but it can also be fixed up, healed, renewed, resurrected. Indeed, in Christ, we see that even God is fragile; even God can fall apart; God will even let the Divine image, the Divine reputation, the Divine message be marred and fragmented and distorted...And it is our work, in some sense, to fix it up. To tikkun olam. Our participation in the fixing up of this beautifully ramshackled world is simultaneously a restoration of the world’s imagination of the Divine."

OCtober 15, 2023 -- "By Our Love"

"Making God known is about welcoming people into your lived loving communion with the Divine, with Jesus, treating them like Jesus—moving towards them in humble love, stooping down to meet their needs in humble service…and living a deepening spiritual communion with Love itself."

OCtober 8, 2023 -- "Making the Mystery Known"

"You are invited into an eternal mystery of boundless riches and diverse wisdom and multi-dimensional love!
Christ has made all this known and available in his life, death, and resurrection.
As you try and figure out life and joy and peace…God is drawing you into the deepest of mysteries, unveiling, making them known."
