When you spend your Sunday morning with the good people of Point Place UCC, what is your experience of worship? Is it inspiring? dull? relevant to your life? disconnected from reality? an encounter with God? an empty ritual? a time to express your faith? a challenge like you're speaking another language? It may be all of those at times for you. It may change week-to-week because you're in a different place spiritually each week. Your experience may also change because--while we have some consistency in our form--the service itself changes. And it's good to have consistency in that. |
While it's good to draw on the rich traditions of the Christian movement, there is also room for creativity and new expressions of faith. Because even the best rituals and practices of faith must be integrated as authentic expressions of a disciple and spiritual community.
At Point Place UCC, we have people of all ages in worship, people with different musical preferences, different spiritual styles, different experiences of church and life, and lots of different gifts. Which is awesome. But it can make crafting an authentic expression of the community a challenge.
So, we're going to start a conversation about WHAT WORSHIP IS and HOW WE DO WORSHIP. The plan is to gather on Saturday, August 4th in the lounge and ask these very questions.

If you're interested in being a part of this conversation, you're welcome to come! There are some materials that you can use to "prime the pump" so that we can hit the ground running in this conversation. Download the packet by clicking on this link. You don't need to fill in all the blanks, but please engage with the thoughts and questions prayerfully prior to the conversation. And let's all look forward to glorifying God together with our hearts and voices of hope and praise. |
